Mandala
For this project, I created an image on a small piece of paper and then transcribed it onto a larger piece of paper. Even though this was a tedious project, it turned out great.

Art Critique
This is a painting called the A Miracle of Nature. It was
painted by Thomas Moran. This painting includes what looks like a canyon with
mountains in the background. The peaks of the mountains are hidden by clouds.
It also looks like there is a small river at the bottom of the canyon.
It
appears that this artist used a warm color scheme to mimic sun light shining on
the mountains. He also included the outlines of the mountains in the clouds. He
also includes a lot of shading. It’s hard to see the river at the bottom of the
canyon due to this artists shading, which makes the painting a lot more
lifelike.
I think
this artwork is meant to show the pure beauty of nature. This artist recognizes
that some sights take your breath away, in a good way. This painting makes you
wonder if it’s a miracle that something as simple as a canyon and a few
mountains can be so beautiful, hence the title.
I
really like this painting. While it’s partly because I just love views like
this, it’s mostly because he made this painting so realistic. It looks like
this was a picture taken by a camera, maybe with a filter thrown in. It reminds
me that sights like this don’t just exist in pictures.
